For reference: INTOSAI is an international organization of Supreme audit institutions (SAIs), an autonomous, independent, and non-political organization. The organization unites the community of external public auditors. INTOSAI has special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Every three years, INTOSAI hosts the INTOSAI Congress (INCOSAI), which brings together SAIs from around the world.

For the first time in its history, the COA of Uzbekistan participated in the INTOSAI Congress. Heads of SAIs from over 200 countries and delegations from international organizations participated.

Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt, attended the opening ceremony of the Congress.

The agenda included the regular meeting of the INTOSAI Governing Board. At the event, heads of SAIs of Austria, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Norway, India, and Egypt reported on their work over the past three years and their plans for the future.

Representatives of INTOSAI's regional chapters—ASOSAI, EUROSAI, ARABOSAI, AFROSAI, CAROSAI, and PASAI—also made their reports. INTOSAI's Committees on Professional Standards, Capacity Building, and Knowledge sharing delivered their thematic presentations.

The Congress also included discussion sessions with external experts and meetings of working groups on INTOSAI's thematic areas of activity. 

M. Abdullaev met with INTOSAI Secretary General and President of SAI Austria Ms. Margit Kracker. The meeting discussed the current state and prospects for developing relations between the two organizations.

As part of their cooperation with INTOSAI, an agreement was reached to expand the system of retraining and professional development for COA’s employees based on INTOSAI standards, as well as to introduce certification practices based on international experience.

During the Congress, the COA delegation held a number of important bilateral meetings. Information on these meetings will be published in the next issue.
