COA strengthens cooperation with the INTOSAI Development Initiative

Having joined the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), the Chamber of Accounts (COA) of the Republic of Uzbekistan actively participates in its projects and programs. In particular, the COA has established fruitful cooperation with the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI). This year, the COA joined the IDI's Global Supreme Audit Institution Accountability Initiative.

For reference: The INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) is a structure within the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI). It promotes capacity development for Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs), primarily in developing countries. IDI was established in 1986 at the Sydney Congress. The IDI Board is chaired by the Auditor General of Norway.

To deepen the ongoing cooperation, IDI Capacity Building Manager Ms. Nazgul Albanova paid a working visit to Uzbekistan. At a meeting at the COA, the current state and prospects for cooperation were discussed.

The COA’s acting chairman M. Abdullaev focused on large-scale reforms currently underway at the institution. The emphasis was on organizing audit activities based on international standards.

Ms. N. Albanova, in turn, touched on institutional support for the COA and the implementation of INTOSAI methodologies in its activities.

It was noted that, as part of the Global SAI Accountability Initiative (GSAI), the COA of Uzbekistan will receive technical and advisory assistance from SAI Georgia.

At the same time, negotiations are underway between the COA of Uzbekistan, SAI Georgia and the INTOSAI Development Initiative on signing a Memorandum of Cooperation on the GSAI project.
