Chamber of Accounts Hosts Meeting with the Islamic Development Bank Evaluation Mission

A meeting was held at the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Uzbekistan with representatives of the Evaluation Mission of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB). During the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Accounts S. Mirzayev briefed the participants on the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan's public audit system, cooperation with international financial institutions, and the priority tasks in the field of digitalization.

The meeting highlighted the significant contribution of the Islamic Development Bank to Uzbekistan's socio-economic development, particularly through projects in the areas of water management, rural development, healthcare, and education. It was noted that in May of this year, the cooperation portfolio between Uzbekistan and the Islamic Development Bank reached USD 5 billion, while an agreement was also achieved on a prospective project pipeline worth USD 3 billion.


The parties emphasized the steady development of practical cooperation between the Chamber of Accounts and the Islamic Development Bank. In particular, representatives of the Chamber of Accounts have participated in international training seminars organized by the Islamic Development Bank in Türkiye and Azerbaijan in recent years, gaining valuable experience in public sector auditing and financial management.


The participants were also informed in detail about the ongoing transformation processes within the Chamber of Accounts. It was emphasized that, pursuant to Presidential Decrees, the Chamber has been entrusted with new mandates, including strategic audits, information technology audits, and financial audits of projects financed by international financial institutions.


Special attention was given to the implementation of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in public audit activities. At present, the Chamber of Accounts' Remote Monitoring Center has integrated 258 categories of databases from 68 ministries, agencies, and banks, enabling real-time risk analysis across 55 areas.


The meeting also discussed the Chamber's efforts to implement international auditing standards, its participation in INTOSAI working groups, as well as effective cooperation with the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the Asian Development Bank, and the Islamic Development Bank in strengthening professional capacity.


At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides underlined the importance of further expanding cooperation in the field of public auditing, exchanging experience, enhancing institutional capacity, and strengthening collaboration in auditing projects financed by international financial institutions.
