Cooperation between the Chambers of Accounts of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan is reaching a new stage
On May 25–26 of this year, a bilateral thematic training seminar was held at the Accounts Chamber of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the participation of a delegation led by Qudrat Gumbatov, Director of the Department of Social Sector Audit of the Accounts Chamber of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The event was aimed at further strengthening practical cooperation between the Chambers of Accounts of the two countries and elevating the exchange of experience in the field of public audit to a new level.
During the seminar, participants extensively discussed the development of external public audit in public procurement, the implementation of advanced international methodologies, and the effective use of digital technologies and modern information solutions.
The Uzbek side emphasized that reforming the public procurement system, increasing transparency, strengthening competition, and reducing corruption risks remain among the priority tasks.
At the same time, Azerbaijan’s advanced experience in using information sources for desk and remote audits, applying artificial intelligence and digital technologies, and introducing modern approaches to evaluating audit outcomes was studied.
In turn, representatives of the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Uzbekistan shared their experience in auditing public procurement, improving control mechanisms, implementing international auditing standards, and advancing digital transformation and remote audit methods.
It should be noted that during the seminar, the parties exchanged detailed views on issues of mutual interest and received comprehensive and well-founded answers regarding audit practices in public procurement. This clearly demonstrated that bilateral cooperation is not only friendly in nature but also effective from practical and methodological perspectives.
It should be recalled that the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Azerbaijan was signed in March of this year during the Azerbaijani delegation’s visit to Uzbekistan.
At the conclusion of the seminar, the parties reached an agreement on harmonizing risk criteria for audit activities in the field of public procurement and developing joint methodological recommendations.
