A new chapter is opening in the history of relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
At the invitation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, is paying a state visit to our country.

During the visit, the leaders of the two states held private talks and the first meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council.
The head of our state emphasized that this state visit by the President of Tajikistan is of historic significance and represents another important step in strengthening the centuries-old ties of friendship, good-neighborliness, and mutual respect between the two countries.
The meetings highlighted the development of active and close ties at the government, parliament, and agency levels. In preparation for the visit, a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, an industrial exhibition, and forums for regions, rectors, scientists, youth, and think tanks were successfully organized. Days of Tajik Culture and Cinema are currently taking place in our country.
At the meeting, the parties discussed in detail new areas of cooperation and analyzed ways to exploit untapped opportunities. Particular attention was paid to measures to increase mutual trade, develop industrial cooperation, strengthen connectivity in the transport sector, and enhance water and energy security.
Last year, trade reached nearly $1 billion, primarily due to mutual supplies of finished goods. Potential to increase mutual trade to $2 billion by 2028 was discussed.
In addition, a separate Industrial Cooperation Program is being adopted, which includes projects in mining, energy, agriculture, electrical engineering, light industry, construction, and other sectors.
Partnerships in energy, water resource management, transport, and many other areas were discussed in detail, and prospects for cooperation were identified.
The leaders agreed to further develop interregional ties and encourage humanitarian, educational, and scientific exchanges.
Given the existence of large diasporas, it was proposed to adopt a five-year action plan to strengthen cultural and humanitarian ties.
The heads of state exchanged views on current issues on the regional agenda and international politics. The importance of continuing close dialogue and mutual support within multilateral structures and regional formats in Central Asia was emphasized. An agreement was reached to intensify cooperation in the security sector.
Finally, a decision was made to adopt a comprehensive roadmap to ensure the full implementation of the agreements reached.
Following the first meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council, the presidents participated in a ceremony to launch major cooperation projects. The heads of state launched 10 joint projects.
As part of the state visit of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, a ceremonial opening of the new building of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Tashkent was also held.
This visit once again confirmed the firm mutual commitment to further strengthening friendly relations, good-neighborliness, strategic partnership, and alliance between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
