Capacity building in public audit under discussion

The reforms carried out today, aimed at increasing the efficiency of public financial control, including the introduction of international standards in public external and internal audit, further increase the need for qualified personnel in this area.

To meet this purpose, on September 12, the Chamber of Accounts (COA) discussed the issues of creating a system for training qualified personnel in the field of public financial control and audit at the Tashkent State University of Economics (TSUE).

The discussion was attended by COA’s deputy chairman S. Mirzaev, heads of specialized structures, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, TSUE, the Chamber of Auditors and the Big Four audit firms (KPMG and Ernst & Young).

During the meeting, experts presented proposals based on national and international experience for the draft regulatory document on the organization of public audit curriculum at the TSUE.

The main goal of this system is to attract talented young people to state financial control and audit, organize training based on international standards and educational programs, and ensure interaction of interested organizations in the high-quality organization of training and research work in this area.

At the same time, was emphasized the need to create conditions for obtaining deep theoretical knowledge and practical skills in this area by improving the educational process and the material and technical base of the university.

Having discussed all the proposals, a decision was made to jointly develop measures to improve the draft regulatory document and its implementation.
