The 7th meeting of the heads of the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states was held in Dushanbe (Tajikistan). The meeting was attended by the heads of the SAIs of Belarus, India, Pakistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, China, as well as representatives of the SCO Secretariat.

For reference: The practice of holding meetings of the heads of the SAIs of the SCO member states was established in 2010. Currently, 10 countries participate in it. The meetings are held once every two years.
A delegation headed by deputy chairman of the Chamber of Accounts (COA) of Uzbekistan Sardor Mirzayev took part in the event.
The main topic of this year's meeting was increasing the efficiency of water resources use by strengthening state control. This topic is one of the priorities for all countries in the region.
In his speech, Sardor Mirzayev noted that due to the political will of the leaders of the Central Asian countries, previously existing conflict issues were eliminated and issues of strategic importance are being resolved constructively.
The presentation provided information on the efforts currently being undertaken in Uzbekistan to use water resources. Particular attention was paid to the issue of transition to a resource-saving and environmentally friendly model of economic development in Uzbekistan.
In particular, information was provided on the audit activities carried out by the COA of Uzbekistan in recent years on the sustainable use of water resources in order to prevent the negative effects of climate change.
The SAIs of the SCO member states emphasized their support for strengthening cooperation between governments, international organizations and the business community on issues of rational use of water resources.
During the meeting, the SAIs and heads of delegations made reports on the national experiences of their countries.
Following the event, a Joint Statement and Action Plan for 2025-2027 were approved. The SAIs of Belarus and Iran were also officially accepted into the organization.
The meeting participants assigned the COA of Uzbekistan the task of chairing the Council of Heads of SAIs of the SCO Member States for 2027-2029. In this regard, a proposal was approved to hold the next meeting of the structure in 2027 in Uzbekistan.
At the same time, as part of the visit, the COA delegation held bilateral meetings with the heads of the Accounts Chamber of Tajikistan, where the meeting was held, and the SAIs of Iran and Pakistan.
At these meetings, the parties discussed the implementation of financial, effective and compliance audit standards, mutual consultations on the exchange of professional documents, methodological developments, and increasing human resources.
Particular attention was paid to the development and signing of a targeted Memorandum of Cooperation with each country, which includes the organization of online and offline training for mutual training of personnel, improvement of audit standards and other issues.
The meeting of the SAIs of the SCO Member States was a success. It was organized under the motto of mutual respect, trust and close cooperation, which is in line with the unique “Shanghai spirit”.
