Audit of Food Supply for the Population

The Chamber of Accounts conducted a remote review of the formation and targeted use of funds of reserve funds established under the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regional administrations, and the Tashkent city administration to ensure the supply of essential food products to the population.

At a video conference meeting held on October 16, 2020, under the leadership of the Head of State on “Measures to Ensure Food Security and Maintain Price Stability in the Domestic Market” (Protocol No. 81), it was decided to establish reserve funds in the regions to supply the population with essential food products.

The review revealed that in some regions the activities of these funds are not sufficiently organized, and it was noted that it is necessary to attract additional financial resources to ensure price stability.

Measures were also developed to ensure the efficient use of allocated funds, provide preferential loans to entrepreneurs through commercial banks, and ensure the timely repayment of allocated resources.

In particular:

– to intensify the activities of the funds in Namangan and Surkhandarya regions, as well as in Tashkent city, in order to ensure food security and maintain stable market conditions and prices;

– to establish a permanent monitoring system by the Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan, regional and Tashkent city administrations jointly with commercial banks to ensure food security and price stability, as well as to take prompt measures when necessary.
